Carry to another state?

I have a CC license in Pennsylvania, and wish to travel to Baltimore MD. Of course Maryland doesnt honor the PA CC license. I dont plan to be at any dangerous areas at 2am or anything like that. Mostly sight seeing, museums, art gallerys and such. But even these places seem to be of concern lately(Holocaust Museum )

So my question is; would you still carry in this situation?

honestly? No. I would not.

All you need is one slip and boom, felony. One of those screws things up forever.

I believe that ALL the gun laws we have are an abomination of the 2A, but I also don't need a felony taking away what rights I still do have. I wouldn't risk it.

Not a good idea at all if you are going to Maryland. As a former resident, I can tell you that you are asking for trouble. Maryland is one of the most restrictive states in the US re: gun laws. (One of the reasons I am a former resident.)

http://www.opencarry.org/md.html

Quote:

Summary
Maryland is not a traditional open carry state. However, should you be wealthy or connected enough to get one of the rare Maryland carry permits, Maryland law makes no distinction between open and concealed carry. But this would almost certainly result in the loss of the permit. We consider Maryland to be one of the top 5 rights restricted states in the union.
A pretty interesting forum related to the topic:

Great clip, Andy. Must admit that is the first time I've read the 2nd Amendment that way. So, I just had an ah-hah moment.

The well-regulated militia (a standing army) is necessary to protect a free country. However, the PEOPLE must have the right to bear arms to protect themselves and the country from the well-regulated militia (or their political bosses.) History teaches us that is so.

Genius.

Funny we have been taught to read it differently. I finally see.

A Wise man once said: "If I was EXPECTING trouble, I'd bring my rifle. The handgun is just for the trouble I'm not expecting...."

Sometimes you just need to think "what would a PRUDENT man do in this situtation?" and act accordingly...

Deep concealment?

The events at the Holocaust museum were handled well by security and having a CCW wouldn't have helped at all.

Is it prudent to risk losing your 2nd amendment rights to carry illegally in MD? The prudent man would answer NO. if the threat level in MD is so high that it is worth risking your right to even own a firearm, why are you going? That is what the prudent man would ask.

I'm as Pro 2nd as anyone I know however, Baltimore is not an American City.

I lived there and worked there for a couple of years and was happy to leave the opressive Gov--State and Local.

I would say NO------But if you do you better be conceled and I am talking deeep so that you are not discovered. Baltimore is a Rough town and ihas an international Criminal base that has made the Police and Feds on super high alert. Huge amounts of Heroine come through that city.

Don't

Using that logic, one should remain home with the doors nailed shut and bars over the windows, since clearly no one is ever able to truly assess the level of threat anywhere anytime.

Do you think anyone in the restaurant where Dr. Gratia/Hupp lost her parents were expecting what happened to happen ?

The prudent man buys fire insurance for his house, even though he never had a fire and likely never will.....because fires happen. I have never had a fire.

The prudent man stores food because the supply line for food is tenuous and even though he has never seen a store with empty shelves, he could.....I have never seen empty stores.

The prudent man would carry a gun because you simply don't know what other people plan to do. Twice in my life the presence of a gun in my hand prevented criminal activity from robbing or harming me.....and no shots fired.
Neither time was I in a place that I 'expected' trouble.....the situations simply arose.

No one is questioning the carrying of firearms in general. I agree that firearms can be very useful to stop crimes, that is why I have a permit to carry and do so regularly.

The only prudent reason to justify risking your right to own a firearm would be if you felt a specific threat. If you feel that you will be so exposed to danger if you travel to MD that you are willing to risk your right to own a firearm, then you must ask yourself why you are making this trip.

The prudent man (or woman) also stays as far away from Maryland as possible if he or she is carrying. Not worth the risk.

Re: Carry to another state?

Yes, I would. I also have CC in PA. I also carry in New Jersey which is Communist compared to Maryland. If I get caught, I will just hire good lawyers, and fight it out with the courts. Hopefully, it will never come to this.
